Artistic Practice
My artistic practice uses film, performative scenarios, and audiovisual works to explore the intersection between real life and the ‘stage.’ Through visually documented encounters and staged happenings, I investigate dynamics of power, control, and desire within both public and private spaces. Observation and intervention become tools to question spectator - performer relationships, and the authenticity of social behaviour. Informed by sociology, my work interrogates how gender, labour, and capitalist hierarchies choreograph perception and shape relationships between individuals.
Biography
Laura Eager is a visual artist, performer, and producer from South East England, based in Amsterdam since 2019. Her background in visual arts, sociology, and theatre informs a practice that moves between performance, film, and social research. In 2023 she graduated from the Audio Visual department (VAV) at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, her artistic work has been presented both in the Netherlands and internationally at MOMO Festival (Rotterdam), BUDA (Kortrijk, Belgium), and Space O (Düsseldorf, Germany). Since 2022, Laura has worked in programming and production for Cinedans, a festival dedicated to the dance film genre, and from 2022 to 2025 she served as executive producer for Moving Media Lab, an interdisciplinary platform exploring movement, design, and technology.
